Reigning Mother of God

Russian Orthodox Church in Charlotte, North Carolina

An Orthodox Christian community in Charlotte, North Carolina, preserving the ancient faith, rich liturgical traditions, and spiritual life of the Orthodox Church.

Founded in 2006, the Reigning Mother of God Russian Orthodox Church is a parish of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), serving the Orthodox faithful of Charlotte and the surrounding communities.

Our founding community brought together descendants of White Russian émigrés, recent immigrants from Russia and Ukraine, Orthodox Christians from Greece, Bulgaria, and Serbia, and Americans who had embraced the Orthodox faith. Nearly twenty years later, our parish life continues to be typified by this rich coming together of people of different backgrounds in service of Christ and one another.

Our divine services are celebrated in approximately equal parts English and Church Slavonic, reflecting the composition of our congregation and our commitment to preserving the liturgical heritage of the Russian Orthodox Church while making the fullness of Orthodox worship accessible to all.

Our services

At the heart of our parish life stands the worship of the Holy Trinity. Through the solemn beauty of the Divine Liturgy, the prayers and hymns of the Church, the celebration of her feasts and fasts, and the fellowship of a close-knit parish family, we strive to live the Orthodox Christian faith not merely as an inheritance to be preserved, but as a living encounter with our Lord, God, and Savior, Jesus Christ.
